Your website gets visits but few inquiries: 10 things to check

8 min readVectora Systems editorial teamPublished: July 1, 2026Updated: July 11, 2026

A low number of inquiries does not automatically mean that a business needs a new website. Across more than a thousand small-business website reviews, the same barriers appear repeatedly: unclear next steps, missing information, difficult forms, and weak mobile usability.

This article is based on recurring issues identified while reviewing commercial websites. Examples are generalised and do not reveal information about specific companies.

In this article
  1. 1. The first screen does not explain the offer
  2. 2. There is no visible next step
  3. 3. Phone is the only contact option
  4. 4. The form is too long
  5. 5. Service pages do not answer customer questions
  6. 6. Mobile usability is poor
  7. 7. Trust evidence is weak
  8. 8. Information is outdated or inconsistent
  9. 9. Forms and buttons are not tested regularly
  10. 10. Inquiry analytics are missing
  11. Where to begin

1. The first screen does not explain the offer

Generic claims about quality and experience do not explain what the customer can actually get. The opening screen should state the service, relevant location or delivery format, and the next action.

2. There is no visible next step

A visitor can read the page and still not know what to do. The call to action should be visible, specific, and relevant to the page context.

3. Phone is the only contact option

Visitors may browse outside business hours, be unable to call, or want to describe the task first. A short form or messenger option removes this barrier.

4. The form is too long

  • too many required fields
  • mandatory email where a phone or messenger is enough
  • no clear success confirmation
  • poor mobile usability

5. Service pages do not answer customer questions

A feature list is not a substitute for explaining the process, expected result, limitations, pricing logic, and next steps.

6. Mobile usability is poor

  • small text and buttons
  • horizontal scrolling
  • navigation covering content
  • forms extending outside the viewport
  • contact options hidden at the bottom

7. Trust evidence is weak

Depending on the business, visitors may need specialists, documents, examples, clear terms, real reviews, an address, guarantees, or an explanation of the process.

8. Information is outdated or inconsistent

Different phone numbers, addresses, schedules, prices, or incomplete language versions create uncertainty and should be fixed before promotion.

9. Forms and buttons are not tested regularly

A form can stop delivering messages after plugin, mail, or server changes. Regular test submissions and a clearly responsible person are essential.

10. Inquiry analytics are missing

Without GA4 events, Search Console, and source tracking, it is difficult to distinguish a traffic problem from a page problem.

Where to begin

Check the home page, two or three core services, mobile layout, contact options, and the entire test-submission journey. This often reveals the first critical barriers without a full rebuild.
